Minot owes its existence to the railroad. Founded in 1886 as a division point on the Great Northern Railway, the city quickly became one of North Dakota's most important railroad hubs. Today, visitors can explore historic cabooses, railroad artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that tell the story of the Great Northern, Soo Line, and other railroads that helped shape Minot and the surrounding region.
